Players of the Baejae High School baseball team have been disciplined by the Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) for leading cheerleading chants that denigrated their opponents. The Baejae coach and two players received a one-month suspension from competition, while the umpire who officiated the game at the time was also given a one-month suspension for failing to intervene in the cheering. A Gwangju Jeil High School coach received a reprimand for using abusive language and profanity towards the opposing team's dugout. The KBSA has pledged to expand its efforts to prohibit inappropriate cheering in stadiums and to develop guidelines for player conduct to prevent future occurrences.
