A woman in her 40s was arrested for cursing at police and spitting on them during the 'Jamsil Vote Counting Station Blockade Protest.'
Judge Seo Beom-jun of Seoul Eastern District Court, who specializes in warrant cases, held a pre-arrest interrogation (warrant substantive review) for Mr. Kim, who is accused of obstructing the execution of official duties, on the 25th and issued an arrest warrant, saying "There is a risk of flight and a possibility of reoffense."
Mr. Kim was arrested as a flagrant offender on the morning of the 23rd on charges of spitting and cursing at a police officer who was managing the protest site in front of the 1-3 gate of the handball stadium in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, after asking for the officer's name.
It is reported that Mr. Kim photographed police at the scene with a mobile phone, saying "I will confirm if you are Korean police," and cursed at police officers' families.
In a video that spread on social media (SNS) after the incident, a police officer is seen immediately slapping Mr. Kim in the face after Mr. Kim spits on the officer, which sparked controversy.
After completing the review at around 3:44 p.m. that day, Mr. Kim said, "I was also assaulted (by police) and my neck was strangled," and "I'm wronged about everything."
In relation to this, police are confirming the exact facts based on the circumstances before and after the arrest and videos, and plan to decide whether to launch an investigation afterwards.
