Police are strengthening internal controls for case inquiries to prevent misconduct related to duties such as leaking investigation information and confidential information. The 'Case Inquiry Prohibition System', which will be piloted from September 1st, will in principle prohibit inquiries that are likely to hinder fair handling of cases, and expand the scope of management to include external personnel such as unappointed lawyers and law firm employees in addition to current and former police officers. Employees who receive case inquiries must report them immediately, and failure to do so will result in disciplinary action. In addition, the 'Private Contact Prohibition System' has also been stipulated in the Police Agency Code of Conduct for Public Officials, prohibiting contact with parties involved in cases, such as suspects and victims, for purposes other than official duties.
