Someone asked me a question offline, so I'll answer it here.
Question: My KITAS is about to expire in 5 years and I want to renew it.
Do I have to go abroad?
"The temporary procedure for obtaining a visa within Indonesia, which was operated during the Covid period, is currently unavailable.
The normal visa issuance procedure is to obtain a visa before entering Indonesia. Obtaining a visa domestically is not in line with the process.
However, if you hold an Investor KITAS, you can apply for KITAP (Permanent Residence Permit) without going abroad.
On the other hand, to renew your KITAS for another 5 years, it is common practice to complete EPO (Exit Permit Only) after preparing for visa processing, and then visit a nearby Singapore or Korea to proceed with the visa issuance procedure."
After obtaining KITAP for the first time and 5 years have passed, you can apply for Unlimited KITAP, which can be renewed indefinitely.
